On module configuration page (available under modules > modules section) ou can find "main settings". Here you can define when module will generate gift card and send it to customer.
Module gift cards is ready to automate whole process.
Just select accepted order states, module will generate gift card automatically right after order status will be equal to the one state you selected from available order states list. You will not have to send coupons manually then.
