This is due to the fact that different PrestaShop releases use different programming solutions. Features working e.g. in PrestaShop 1.7 may not work in PrestaShop 9. Hence the need to release different versions of the module, which will ensure operation in many different versions of the shop.

Let's be honest: default PrestaShop modules usually only allow you to display products from a single, main "Home" category. Your store needs more flexibility. Featured Category Products puts you in full control: choose any category, set the number of products, and decide whether they should appear as an elegant block or as one of the tabs on your homepage.

Why standard modules limit you (and how we changed that)
PrestaShop is great, but default methods for promoting products on the homepage are rigid. If you want to run a quick promo for "Autumn Hits," a "Garage Sale," or highlight products from a specific brand, you usually have to manually assign those products to the "Home" category. This creates a mess in your catalog.
Your store needs to be dynamic. Instead of duplicating product associations, our module allows you to simply specify the ID of any category. Done.
What's more, it adapts perfectly to your theme. It doesn't force its own heavy CSS styles. It uses native PrestaShop features (Presenter API), which means products from your chosen category will look exactly like the rest of your store, maintaining visual consistency, "Add to cart" buttons, and promo labels.
How it looks with others vs what you get here:
- Only one category: Most plugins only allow "Home" or create a mess in your database.
- Broken design: Products often look different than the rest of the store due to outdated rendering methods.
- Slow loading: A lack of cache causes the homepage to slow down with every refresh.

Thanks to this solution, your product grid will always look symmetrical and aesthetic on any device – from smartphones to large desktop screens.

Perfect integration for your theme
Every store is different. That's why the module has two built-in presentation options (Placement Position):
- Homepage Tabs: The module elegantly integrates into your theme's native tab system (e.g., next to "Popular", "New Arrivals"). It saves space and looks incredibly professional.
- Standard Homepage Section: Renders a separate, independent section with a heading ("Featured products"), perfect if you want to clearly separate this group of assortment from the rest.

High performance without worrying about refreshing
The database can be a bottleneck. This module was written with performance in mind. It features an integrated cache mechanism that remembers the generated product view.
However, you don't have to worry about "stale" data. The module automatically clears the cache every time you add, update, or delete a product (or category). Customers always see the current offer, and your server can take a breather.
Simplicity in configuration
The settings panel in the Back Office has been reduced to the absolute minimum. Zero unnecessary options, pure effectiveness. You install, enter the ID, and you're done.
