Why most cookie banners suck (and what we did about it)
PrestaShop is great for products, orders, and multistore—but out of the box it doesn’t ship a proper cookie consent solution. So you end up with that free module from the theme, or a one-size-fits-all script: a bar stuck at the bottom, one font size, one colour. It works for compliance on paper, but it screams “we bolted this on last minute.”
Your store has a look. Dark header? Light footer? Gradient CTA buttons? The default cookie bar usually ignores all of it. And if you sell in the EU, you’re not just decorating—you’re covering your back legally. You need a notice that’s clear, that records consent, and that doesn’t make your front office look like a government form.

Stop being stuck with “bar at the bottom”
Different stores need different approaches. A slim top bar works for minimal disruption. A bottom bar is classic. A centre modal with a dark overlay forces attention—handy when you want explicit consent before anyone scrolls. And floating boxes (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right) keep the notice visible without eating the whole fold.
You also choose where the accept/close button sits inside the bar: left, centre, or right. And you pick the style: a text label (“Accept”, “I agree”, “Close”—multilingual) or a compact [X] icon. When the user clicks, you control how the bar disappears: slide out, fade out, scale down, slide + fade, slide up, zoom out, or flip out. Small detail, but it makes the experience feel finished instead of jarring.

That applies to presets too. Click a preset, the form fills and the preview switches to that style instantly. Tweak one field and watch the preview react. It’s the fastest way to get from “I need a cookie bar” to “this looks exactly right.”

From “meh” to “that’s our brand” in one click
The module ships with a large set of built-in presets: dark, light, neon, gradient, glass, overlay, minimal, bold. Each preset defines everything—bar background (solid or gradient), text colour, shadow, opacity, glass effect, overlay on/off, and the full button styling: background, text, border (type, size, radius, colour), plus hover state (background, text, border, and effect: zoom, scale, brightness, or lift). Nothing is left empty. So when you pick “Arctic Frost” or “Carbon Black,” you get a complete, consistent look, not a bar with a grey placeholder button.
Presets are tagged (Top bar, Bottom bar, Modal, Floating, Glass, Overlay, Gradient, Animation, Dark, Light, etc.) so you can filter and find the style you want. There’s also a community preset library you can load from a URL—more looks, same one-click apply. Then tweak any field in the form if you want to nudge colours or copy; the preview updates live.

Modern effects without touching code
Overlay: Turn on a full-screen backdrop behind the bar. You set the colour (e.g. black) and opacity (0.05–1). Optionally blur the page content behind it. Result: the user has to interact with the cookie notice. No scrolling past it. Perfect when you want explicit consent before they use the site.
Glassmorphism: A frosted-glass blur on the bar background. Works best with bar opacity around 0.3–0.7. Gives that premium, “floating layer” look without any custom CSS.
Gradient: Optional CSS gradient for the bar (e.g. linear-gradient). You can use it alone or with a solid base colour. Combine with shadow and opacity and you get a bar that actually fits a modern storefront instead of a flat grey rectangle.

The full parameter list (no surprises)
Nothing is hardcoded. Bar: background colour, optional gradient, text colour, shadow (colour, X, Y, blur, spread), opacity, glass on/off. Overlay: on/off, colour, opacity, blur content on/off. Button (default): background, text colour, border (none/solid/dashed/dotted, size, radius, colour), font size, vertical and horizontal padding, optional shadow. Button (hover): background, text colour, border (same options), plus effect (none, zoom, scale, brightness, lift), duration, and scale factor. Content: multilingual cookie message (WYSIWYG, so you can add a link to your policy page) and multilingual button label. All of that is in the form and in the live preview. Presets fill every field so you’re never left with an empty or broken look.

The config panel is one screen: message and button text (per language), position and close-button placement, then bar and button colours and effects. Toggles for overlay and glass. No hunting through tabs. What you see in the preview is what you get on the front.
